Google review request text template for service shops

Happy customers forget to leave reviews unless someone asks at the right moment and makes it one tap. The right moment is while the tech is still in the driveway, or the same afternoon. This prompt writes a short, personal text that names the tech and the job, without breaking Google’s rules.

What to get right

  • Ask in person first. The tech says it at the door: “I’m going to text you a link to leave a review. It really helps us.” The text is the follow-through.
  • Send it the same day. While they still remember the tech’s name and the house is warm (or cool) again.
  • Name the tech and the job. Personal beats generic, and it reminds them what to write about.
  • No incentives, no gating. Google’s policy doesn’t allow offering anything for reviews or only asking customers you expect to be happy. Ask everyone the same way.

The prompt

This is the Write a review request text workflow, word for word. Copy it, fill in the [brackets], and paste it into the AI tool your company uses.

Never paste: Customer names, addresses or phone numbers without permission, photos showing house numbers or license plates, review content you don't own, or ad account login details.

Questions shops ask

When should you send a review request text?

The same day the job is finished, ideally within a few hours, after the tech has asked in person.

Can I offer a discount for a Google review?

No. Google’s policies don’t allow offering incentives for reviews, and selectively asking only customers you expect to be happy isn’t allowed either.

How do I get a direct Google review link?

In your Google Business Profile, use the option to ask for reviews. It gives you a short link that opens the review form directly.
